He Keeps Us All In Check

Scott Weiner was born and raised in the Chicago area. As a teenager, he tied on an apron and worked the counter at his local fast food joint. Unlike most teenagers, though, he ran with it.

After high school, he headed to Vegas to immerse himself in the service industry. When he wasn’t studying hospitality at college, he worked for China Grill Management and earned his sommelier license through the Court of Master Sommeliers. By the time he was done with Vegas, he had moved into developing menus and wine programs and had thoroughly tested out Sin City’s nightlife.

Once back in Chicago, Scott went downtown to manage the recently opened Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab. At Joe’s, Scott met Greg Mohr, and their business partnership was off and running. First, they opened The Fifty/50. On the heels of their success, they partnered with the Bleeding Heart Bakery, launched their own restaurant group, and opened Roots Handmade Pizza in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood.

At Roots, Scott runs the back-of-house and makes sure everything tastes incredible. But enough about Scott let’s meet Greg.
